Delete Your MFS Account

You may request deletion of your MFS Financial Administration account and eligible associated data. This page explains how to make the request, what happens next, and what information MFS may need to retain.

How to Request Account Deletion

The easiest way to request deletion is from within your MFS Financial Administration account.

  1. Sign in to MFS Financial Administration.
  2. Open Settings.
  3. Select Account or Delete Account.
  4. Review the information about account closure and data retention.
  5. Confirm that you want MFS to begin the account-deletion process.

What Happens After You Request Deletion

  1. MFS receives your deletion request.
  2. We may verify your identity and account ownership.
  3. Your account and associated records are reviewed to determine which information can be deleted and which information must or may be retained.
  4. Eligible personal information is deleted, de-identified, or otherwise removed in accordance with applicable MFS policies and legal requirements.
  5. Records subject to legal, tax, accounting, professional, security, fraud-prevention, contractual, or regulatory retention obligations may be retained for the applicable period.

Information That May Be Deleted

Depending on your relationship with MFS, account status, services used, and applicable retention requirements, eligible information may include:

  • MFS account access and profile information;
  • optional profile preferences;
  • eligible uploaded documents;
  • eligible connected-account information;
  • eligible application-generated data;
  • optional communications and preferences; and
  • other information that MFS no longer needs to retain.

Information MFS May Need to Retain

Closing an MFS account does not necessarily mean that every record can be immediately deleted.

MFS may retain information when reasonably necessary or legally permitted or required for purposes including:

  • tax return preparation and professional tax records;
  • accounting records and supporting documentation;
  • engagement agreements and authorizations;
  • electronic-signature records;
  • taxpayer consents and permission records;
  • IRS authorization and transcript-related records;
  • payment, subscription, and transaction records;
  • audit and security logs;
  • fraud prevention and security investigations;
  • legal holds, claims, disputes, or investigations;
  • regulatory or professional obligations; and
  • records otherwise required or permitted to be retained by law.
Information retained after account closure will no longer be kept merely for ordinary active-account use and will remain subject to applicable confidentiality, security, retention, and access restrictions.

Connected Financial Accounts

If you have connected a financial account to MFS Financial Administration, account deletion will terminate or remove eligible MFS access to the connection as part of the closure process where appropriate.

Some historical financial records already received by MFS may be retained where necessary for accounting, tax, professional, legal, security, or recordkeeping purposes.

Subscriptions and Billing

If you have an active paid MFS subscription, request cancellation of the subscription before or as part of your account-deletion request.

Account deletion does not necessarily reverse charges already incurred or eliminate payment records MFS or its payment providers must retain.

If a subscription was purchased through Apple or Google, you may also need to manage or cancel the subscription through the applicable app marketplace.

Tax Preparation and Professional Engagements

If MFS is currently preparing a tax return, reviewing a tax matter, providing accounting services, handling an IRS-related authorization, or performing another active professional engagement, requesting account deletion may affect MFS's ability to complete that service.

MFS may contact you before final account closure when an active professional matter requires resolution.

How Long Does the Process Take?

MFS will process verified deletion requests within a reasonable period, subject to applicable law, identity verification, active professional matters, and any applicable record-retention requirements.

Where applicable law establishes a specific response period, MFS will process qualifying requests in accordance with that requirement.

Before You Delete Your Account

Before requesting deletion, consider downloading any records you wish to retain, such as:

  • financial reports;
  • transaction exports;
  • documents;
  • tax-related records;
  • completed agreements; and
  • other available account information.

Access to these materials may no longer be available after account closure.
